TRAFFIC OFFEDNER PROGRAMS

In most cases, the court will impose a lesser penalty if a traffic offender completes the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program. This is a Local Court program targeted at offenders who have pleaded guilty to, or have been found guilty of, a traffic offence. The completion of this program can assist you in securing a more favourable outcome in a range of matters, including the sentencing of drink driving matters and licence suspension appeals.

The Court must give its approval for you to attend the Traffic Program. Our traffic lawyers will often advise traffic offenders to complete this program for their own benefit and to increase their prospects of securing a more lenient sentence. In such cases we will request that the Court allow for a traffic matter to be adjourned for several months so the offender has time to undertake the program. The program runs for 8 weeks, 2 hours per week.

Several speakers give presentations to a group of traffic offenders over this period, including ambulance officers, solicitors, police officers & counsellors. If you are thinking about completing this program, or have a traffic matter coming up in court, please contact one of our traffic lawyers who can advise you on the location and conduct of the program.

Our lawyers can also refer you to counsellors who specialize in anger management and self-control for motorists. Voluntarily enrolling in these sorts of courses can only increase your prospects of obtaining a more favourable outcome when you appear in Court.
